As promised, I'm going to tell you about my second experience to Curltopia - not Urbanbella (we'll give them a break for a little bit). I needed to get a trim...how did I know this, because I was getting little knots on the end of my hair. My hair, normally, never tangled, at least while I was still getting a relaxer and once natural, it did a pretty good job not getting terribly tangled at a manageable length...now-a-days, I tend to spend more time de-tangling than I used to.
Okay, my actual one and only hair appointment at Curltopia. I made the appointment with a stylist. At the time this stylist was the only natural hair stylist that was black in the salon. The stylist talked up a HUGE game, but the delivery was pretty sorry (...too blunt?). I went in with high expectations - of which may have already set me up for disappointment. I originally wanted to blow it out, straighten and then trim it up.
After a talk, I was convinced to remain curly and add some product, sit me under the dryer and then style. After a wash, and a little conditioner (sat under the dryer to get the penetrating effect), I was "trimmed"up. I couldn't really tell a difference, but was HIGHLY PISSED when I went to get is straighted out about two weeks later and the lady told me I need a trim....hadn't I just gotten it trimmed? Could the stylist trim hair while it was curly?
Okay, so it was decided to use missjessies curly pudding...the purple one that smells like a sweet tart - the stylist applied A LOT of the product and sat me under the dryer to set. After one hour and a half I was allowed to leave the dryer. I was excited to see what this long process would produce...sadly, I was disappointed. My hair looked about the same it did everyday...with added grease...and, since so much was used, a constant smell...
Curly Pudding was heavy and just left so much film on my hair that everytime I touched it, my hand returned with a coating of grease. What was the main product in this? Obviously, nothing that actually allows penetration into the hair shaft...to assist in the health of my hair...or did that stylist just use entirely too much product?
So, from that experience, I put miss jessies down...all but their rapid conditioner.
Since going into to curltopia for an actual appointment, which was over a year ago, they have steadily been adding more stylist...from what I can see, mainly females that are actually wearing their hair natural. I might give them another try...but, probably not. HA!
What else...
